Here are some actual letters written to Bud. BOY! He's been getting a lot lately! Do you have a question you'd like to ask? Or maybe you'd like to share a travel experience or snapshot of your own. Write to Bud, he'd love to hear from you!

marlene
Dear Marlene,
I don't hike places because my legs don't move. I just stand. So I don't know a lot about hiking through England and Scotland but you'll find lots of good ideas here-

When I discovered your website, I was enchanted. I love seeing all the
pictures from all over the world. Even more I like pictures from my own
home town of Baltimore. I was very surprised when I picked up the City
Paper last week and saw Bud on the cover.

Good luck in Australia,
Jennifer
Dear Jennifer,
I was talking with my friend Erik when the City Paper took that picture. I think the picture shows what a great town Baltimore is to grow up in. I love Baltimore too. Which is why I'm always happy to come home again.
Sincerely, Bud
Check it out!

Dear Kelly,
Thanks for the smile.

Came across your site and noticed you are off to Australia, NZ and
Fiji. I did the same trip back in 1990 and here are my favs:
AUSTRALIA: Fraser Island - all sand island, no paved roads (in fact
they pick you up from the ferry in a 4x4 bus - it's a blast!) ,
beautiful lakes, and be sure to hit the beach in the early morning to
check out the cool sand art that the crabs leave behind!
Be sure to snorkel the Great Reef too - it shouldn't be missed.
FIJI: took the Blue Lagoon Cruise - totally breathtaking and some
really interesting tours. Stayed at the Regent of Fiji hotel -
excellent. Fiji was on the verge on political unrest when I was there
too - it didn't affect me as a tourist one bit.
NZ: only had time for a quick cab tour between flights so I can't
recommend anything in particular.
Enjoy your trip!!!!
SHERRI
Dear Sherri,
Thanks for all the great tips! It's good to hear that the people of Fiji leave the tourists alone when they have a revolution and stuff like that.
Sincerely, Bud
Hi, Bud!
I read about your website in Yahoo Internet Life magazine [May issue]. Let me just say that I was totally intrigued not only by your travels but the creative ways your travel companion has photographed you around the globe. Totally entertaining!
I look forward to hearing about your travels "down under". And please
put me on your mailing list for any press releases or news of updates on
your website, etc.
Bon voyage!!
Your friend,
Susan
Dear Susan,
You can sure bet that I was excited to see pictures from my website in Yahoo Internet Life magazine! It's nice because otherwise you wouldn't have learned about my travels. I glad you liked the pictures.
I haven't started a mailing list because I didn't want people to think I would send them junk mail. I keep getting stupid ads for losing weight; my weight never changes don't they know that? I try to update my home page with news once a month or so, though. But I suppose if you really want me to mail you news I could do that.
Here's some news: Yahoo! Australia & NZ will interview me when I get to Sydney in July. Isn't that cool!
Sincerely, Bud
Neato!! Have a great trip.
Say, I was wondering: have you ever been to an opera, Bud? I am a member
of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, and I think it would be unbelievably
cool if on your next trip to New York, your companion were to photograph
you, say, sitting by the fountain at Lincoln Center--perhaps a very small
aperture so that you could sort of make out the Chagall tapestries hanging
in the front of the MET... What do you think?
Or maybe you could be photographed glancing at the performance "placards",
encased in glass at the front of the MET with binoculars around your neck?
No, wait: photographed trying on a hairpiece in the Wig Department!
As an amateur photographer myself, I would be happy to assist you if I
could if you are at all interested in this locale.
Happy Travels!
Susan
Dear Susan,
Wow, are you in the orchestra? What do you do? Do you play an instrument? Are you a Diva?
I think a visit to the Metropolitan Opera would be neat. Your ideas for pictures are interesting, you must be good photographer. New York is not so far from where I live. Sometimes I travel there to visit friends of mine. Next time I'm going up there I will write to you.
Sincerely, Bud
Yes, I play oboe in the Orchestra.
That'd be great: drop me a line whenever you and Bud next come to the Big Apple!
All the best,
Susan
Hi Bud!
Glad to have found your site----I am a new collector of mannequins----and
have acquired a few in need of cosmetic repair------was hoping you would
know where I can find the correct paint for mannequins?
Thanks------------Larry
Dear Larry,
I don't know much about paint but maybe you could ask Mr. Mannequin? He knows a lot about all kinds of stuff about mannequins. I hope he can help your new friends. Will you take them on trips with you? I bet they would have lots of fun.
Sincerely, Bud
Hi Bud!
I have a large conversion Van and yes------my mannequin friends love to
ride along------I have a policeman and several very attractive ladies. They
are a fun crowd to be with----------Thanks-------"C" ya!
Dear Larry,
It sounds like a lot of fun. I like to ride in cars too. I hope everybody has a seatbelt, though. But I guess the policeman makes sure of that.
Sincerely, Bud
You should becoming to BRISBANE - Qld where you can visit our Gold Coast
to the South & Sunshine Coast to the North.
We also have a great beach walking distance from the CBD called South Bank
where Expo 1988 was held (CBD - Downtown)
Hope you make it to Brissy,
Pam
Dear Pam,
Thanks for the tip. I will try to add Brisbane to my list of places to go. Australia is a big place. I guess I can't see the whole country in two weeks, though. Gosh, I even bet there are some people who live their whole lives 'down under' and don't see all of it.
Sincerely, Bud
Hey Bud,
It looks like we have very similair backgrounds. We both love travel and
photography and are 100% inanimate objects. Between us we have covered
almost every corner of the globe. I'd like to invite you to swing by my
website and spend some time seeing the sites with the world's most travelled
Potato Head.
If you're interested, we can exchange links so as to share with others
the many places we've been!
Take Care,
Spud
http://www.interlog.com/~chapman/
Dear Spud,
Wow, you sure have been to a lot of great places too! I am almost surprised we haven't met while traveling. But the world is a really big place I guess. You're right we do have a lot in common, even our names rhyme- Spud... Bud... ha ha. It's a little spooky.
You're site is very nice. I liked the Easter Island snapshots. I've always wanted to go there. I think the big stone carvings might be my great, great ancestors or something.
Sincerely, Bud
Dear Bud,
Doriann thinks your life is kind of strange. I however would like it,
except for the being a mannequin part. I'm a teacher, and Doriann is a
second grade student at my school. We both send our greetings. In closing,
we are
Yours truly,
Doriann and Mr. Stebbins
Dear Doriann and Mr. Stebbins,
I guess my life is kind of strange but everybody is different from everybody else at least a little bit. Anybody whose life was totally normal would be really strange, I think.
Being a mannequin is great for me, but I can see why a real person might not like it much, though. Traveling a lot is great no matter who you are. Meeting interesting people and learning about new places are the best! Good luck in school (especially social studies).
Sincerely, Bud
Hey Bud,
I'm a half Aussie/Yank photojournalist living in southern
California and have been all over Australia and you've got to see Ayers
Rock and the Sydney opera House and don't forget you really must experience
a good old Aussie Pub, mate.
I know you'll have a fantastic time down under Bud.
Cheers.....Earl
Dear Earl,
Are you half Aussie and half Yank or half Aussie/Yank and half photojournalist? I come in half to fit into my travel bag.
I'm working out what I'm going to see on my trip right now. The Sydney Opera House and Ayers Rock are definitely on the list, though. I'm probably leaving near the end of June. On the way over, I might stop for a few days in Fiji (that's an island) and a few more in New Zealand (two BIGGER islands) before heading on to Australia (a whole continent all by itself).
Sincerely, Bud
Here are two suggested
venues for your Australian portfolio: Surfer's Paradise (Brisbane,
Queensland) dangling from the bungee crane that soars over the
Broadwater Spit; and darkening a doorway of one of the nudie bars in
King's Cross, the seamy underbelly of Sydney, NSW. Enjoy your travels!
Lydia
Dear Lydia,
Surfing sounds really neat but dangling from a crane or going to a nudie bar maybe doesn't sound so neat. I'll think about it, though.
Sincerely, Bud
Hey, Bud!
I ran into your site -- COOL!
I have just finished my MFA. My thesis is a conceptual piece documented
on the web. All about travel, both physical and spiritual.
If you get your trip to Australia together, I'd love to give you a travel
token to take with you there. You can read about that on my site, or e-mail
me any questions, if you are interested.
Best of luck!
~shay
The Virtual Pilgrim
Dear ~shay,
Sure, I'll take a token with me. Your idea is nice and sounds like fun. I might have trouble with the part where I have to say your name out loud, though. It's nice to know you think about traveling too. I'm probably going to Australia and New Zealand in July, is that ok?
Sincerely, Bud
Bud,
A mime in Paris held up a piece of paper with my name on it for a photo
op -- I'm sure you can come up with some creative answer to the problem!
Anyway, I'm glad you are interested. July is fine! I could pop a travel
token in the mail to you -- one for New Zealand, one for Australia?
~shay
Dear ~shay,
Oh, Okay.
Sincerely, Bud
Hello Bud!
I really enjoy looking at the photos of your travels. My sister really
admires your work too. We thought you might enjoy Carlsbad Caverns and White Sands National Monument here in New Mexico. Hopefully you'll be
able to visit the Land of Enchantment (New Mexico) sometime soon. Best
of luck, keep up the good work!
Eli
Dear Eli,
I'm glad you and your sister like my snapshots. I haven't been to Carlsbad Caverns yet but I did visit Luray Caverns in Virginia. It was a little chilly and damp. I really like the nickname for your state- Land of Enchantment. That is nice and makes me feel like visiting, so it is a good nickname, I think.
Sincerely, Bud
Hello Bud,
Loved the site. You are a lucky guy to get to travel all over. I noticed
that you haven't been here to Arizona. There is much to see here, like
the Grand Canyon of course and the Superstition Mountains. Just make sure to
come in Winter or Spring. Summer might melt you.
Sylvia
Dear Sylvia,
I'm glad you enjoyed looking at my snapshots and I hope you learned some neat stuff too. Actually, I really did drive through Arizona in the summer and you're right, I almost melted! I took some pictures too, but darn it all, they didn't come out. Which is why I don't have them on my website. You can bet I was sure disappointed! I did see the Grand Canyon though, and it is very Grand, but I missed the Superstition Mountains. Thanks for writing.
Sincerely, Bud
Bud should ride in an emu race
Dear Evelyn,
My legs don't bend so it might be hard for me to ride an emu. I would like to try though, but only if the emu was tame and didn't mind it.
Sincerely, Bud
Dear Bud,
I LOVE your site! I was wondering if I could put a link to your page on
mine. Take a look and let me know.
My suggestion for tourist photo in Australia is the Sydney Opera House.
Yours truly,
Steve Jones
Dear Steve,
Of course you can put a link to my site on yours. I think it's nice you want your friends and visitors to know about my travels. I'm probably going to Australia in July and will definitely visit the Sydney Opera house!
Sincerely, Bud
Enjoyed your worldwide travels Bud and slide show
Noticed you visited the Canadian side of the Falls, while calling it Niagara
Falls USA.
I have taken pictures from that same spot many times when my relatives
come over.
You can't fool me Bud.
Just kidding eh!
Great site.
Aleid
Dear Aleid,
Whoops! You're right. The index of photographs page had the Niagara snapshot listed as in New York (I'm fixing it). It was listed as Canada on the actual page though. I heard a joke about Canadians when I was in Canada. Want to hear it?
Q: How many Canadians does it take to screw in a light bulb?
A: One
I think it's a funny joke because usually the answer to that joke is a lot of people because they are dumb or weird or something. But Canadians aren't dumb or weird; they're normal and very nice. I even thought the Canadian side of Niagara falls was cleaner than the American side. I'm glad you liked my webpage, thanks for visiting.
Sincerely, Bud
nigga please! we boat no dat plastic cracker aint you cracker ass! it shuer
do be nice to have all dat free time to be f**kin round on your puter makein
your ass a web site.
keep it real my nigga, peace out! Ronigro
Dear Ronigro,
Golly, your accent is sure hard for me to understand! I like traveling on boats, it is very peaceful. I'm made of Fiberglas not plastic, though. It's ok, a lot of people make the same mistake. I used to work all the time at Montgomery Wards but now I travel. I am very fortunate. I wish more people could have my good luck! I'm glad you liked my pictures (I think). "Peace out" to you as well.
Sincerely, Bud
Dear Bud,
Long time no see! I haven't seen you since graduation from MICA, and I
must say, you haven't changed a bit. It's good to know you are still getting
around! I've truly enjoyed wandering thru your site and will come back
when I have more time.
easelqueen
Dear Kelly,
Wow, good to hear from you! No, I haven't changed much, though I've had to have my face repainted once. It is just part of getting older, I guess. I'm glad you liked my pictures and stuff. I like your paintings a lot!
Sincerely, Bud
