Here are some actual letters written to Bud. BOY! He's been getting a lot lately! Do you have a question you'd like to ask? Or maybe you'd like to share a travel experience or snapshot of your own. Write to Bud, he'd love to hear from you!
Dear Bud,
Have you ever come to Boston? If you haven't you should come some time
to where I live. We have all sorts of fun. We do tractorfest (which is
always fun). This is when we take a tractor, with a cement mixer engine,
no brakes and no seat belts, and we go through the woods. We chuck TV's
off a cliff add rocks to a washing machine out in the woods and more!
This would be a really fun event to go to if you come to Boston! So come!!!!!
Dear Gavin,
I drove through Boston a few years ago (actually I didn't drive my friends drove, I don't have a license). The tractorfest sure does sound like fun. Are the rocks dirty?
Sincerely, Bud
Has Bud been to Seattle? We could take him to the Boeing Everett 747 plant
(biggest building in the world)...
Dear Mark,
I was in Seattle once for a layover but I couldn't leave the airport, so that doesn't really count, I guess. I was very disappointed. It would so COOL to see where they make some of the planes I have flown in!
Sincerely, Bud
Hi Bud,
Yes i have seen the tajmahal but that is not the only thing to be seen in india. Although it is one of the wonders of the world but if you come to india make sure that you come on a long trip as it is a totally different culture altogether.Every monument you see has an accompanying legend behind it.
There no longer exist any kings or rulers but the legacy which they
left behind is vast.It lives on in paintings sculptures and monuments.Indian
architecture is famous as it has always assimilated and adapted to the
rulers who came from persia europe and portugal.India is a truly cosmopolitan country. There are a no of religions coexisting in harmony. Each state has a language of it's own although hindi is the national language and most of the people know english.
Padmaja.
Dear Padmaja,
When people around the world think about India the first thing they probably think of is the Taj Mahal. I will be sure to see other stuff too, though.
Have you ever traveled outside of India?
Sincerely, Bud
Bud,
How about coming to Charleston, South Carolina! I sure would love
to play a round of golf with you! This is a great city and I know you
would enjoy the sights. I would take you on a carriage ride, too.
Thanks for your site Bud. Inspiring to say the least!
Tracy
Dear Tracy,
I did get to see the Cypress Gardens in South Carolina. That wasn't too far away from Charlestown. I also went on the aircraft carrier Yorktown when I was there. I don't know how to play golf but riding in a carriage sounds like fun. I'm glad you were inspired, that's nice.
Sincerely, Bud
I went to Australia on my honeymoon last year. Bud should stay in far NorthQueensland in the rainforest - BEAUTIFUL place. He could go on a crocodile hunt on a river at night. We did, and it was an incredible time.
G'Day Mate!
Lori
Dear Lori,
Congratulations on getting married! I'm still single but I'm only twelve years old (I came that age from the factory). I saw crocodiles when I went to Botswana. I wasn't scared at all. Australia is a BIG place, I don't know how I'm going to see all the stuff I want to see. Thanks for writing. I hope you and your husband get to celebrate your 50th anniversary hunting crocodiles in NorthQueensland.
Sincerely, Bud
I enjoyed your travelogue quite a bit. Thank you for putting youradventures out here "for the rest of us."
Your site was one of the weekly "Phreaky Phriday Phun Linx" newsletter topics from @Home Web Waste Editor Bonnie Burton.
Jeanne
Arvada, Colorado
Dear Jeanne,
I sure have had a lot of visitors recently. In the last year 1,500 visitors came to the site (and some of them were really just me checking in) and then over 9,000 in the last two weeks! And from all over the world, too. Wow. I'm not bragging, though, I just think it's neat that I can share my fun travels with people and maybe inspire them to travel and see new things too. Thanks for writing, I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures and stuff.
Sincerely, Bud
Hi Bud,
I noticed that you didn't visit Toronto. My cousin lives there and it is a great place, so I think that you should go there.
Hope to see you soon
Simon Moore
Dear Simon,
I've been asked to see more of Canada and I think I will someday. Toronto is definitely on my list of cities to go to. I'm glad your cousin likes living there. Do you have any suggestions on really great things to see in Toronto or stuff close by there where I could pose for good picture for my travel album?
Sincerely, Bud
Yeah, try going to the CN tower, brilliant place for tourists, and also
try Planet Hollywood (Toronto and Niagara) or the Much Music TV studios. These are all great places to see.
Thanx
Simon
Bud,
Your WWW site is mentioned in the 9/20/99 issue of the
I Hate Computers Newsletter, a Yahoo! Cool site, at:

Thomas R. Fasulo
Webmaster
IH8PCs Center for World Control
Dear Thomas,
Thanks. I liked what you said me and the website. It is nice to be compared to Marco Polo but I don't think I'm doing anything nearly as great as he did. I'm going places that lots of other people have already been to before. Not many mannequins, though.
Sincerely, Bud
Bud should hug a koala, or a kangaroo
Roxy
Dear Roxy,
Koalas and kangaroos are very cute. My arms hold up my suit and set it off jauntily but they aren't much good at hugging. I don't mind, though. Maybe I'll pose with a koala or a kangaroo at the Sydney Zoo.
Sincerely, Bud
Bud,
I couldn't help but notice that you have not seen a lot of my beautiful
country, Canada. The city I live in is called Saskatoon, which is in
Saskatchewan. It has been nicknamed "The City of Bridges," as the South
Saskatchewan River runs right through the centre of the city, and we
need many bridges to get from one side of the city to the other.
Another popular site that many tourists like to visit is The
Bessborough, which has been dubbed the "Castle on the River." It is
quite a beautiful hotel and is a predominant feature of this beautiful
city.
These are just a couple of features of the city, and I think you would
enjoy visiting here should you decide to do a cross-Canada tour.
Sincerely, Rebecca
Dear Rebecca,
Canada is a very big country. I want to see more of it. Saskatoon sounds great. I like castles, and would like to stay at the Bessborough if it isn't too expensive. I'm glad you wrote to me, I learned a lot. I really like learning about places I haven't been to yet.
Sincerely, Bud
Bud should travel to NZ first for at least some of the America's Cup Finals in Auckland, NZ beginning Feb. 19 and then on to Australia, or possibly do the trip in reverse. I'm doing NZ first, and then Australia.
RJ Whelan
Dear RJ,
I think I will go to New Zealand first but a little later. I don't think I'll be there in time for the famous America's Cup sailing race, though. That's too bad. Are you going to see the race? Who do you think will win?
Sincerely, Bud
Bud,
America's Cup races were conducted- at intermittent intervals-off
Newport, RI from 1930 to 1983 when the "Auld Mug" was loss to the
Aussies after 132 years. Now, NZ holds the Cup and I'm routing for the
Young America's Challenge-sponsored by the NY
Yatch Club-to win back the "Auld Mug" and return racing here to
Newport. I reside in Warwick, RI. You should not miss the Cup Finals in Auckland beginning February 19-it will be the best 5 out of nine races.
Best wishes,
RJ Whelan
PS There are four other challengers from the US of A.
Dear RJ,
Rhode Island is nice. I think it is strange that it is called an 'island' when it isn't one, though. I hope the Young America's Challenge wins too. But only if it is the fastest boat. It sure sounds exciting!
Sincerely, Bud
Hi Bud,
I was just wondering about the people stuck in the hurricane as I
have a cousin who stays in florida too. Monday was the festival of the elephant
headed god Ganesha. Do you want to know the legend behind it or do you
already know it. It wouldn't surprise me as the world over wherever there
are indians you will find the lord Ganesha being invoked before any auspicious
thing is started. No celebrations or festivals poojas(prayers etc.)are
started without praying to him. Huge idols of Ganesha are made then people
pray together and at the end of 7 days they are immersed in the
sea/river. The idols are made of clay. Traditional sweets are
made. Incidentally his carrier is a mouse. Ganesha being huge with a big
paunch and elephant head a mouse is his bearer!
That's all for now,
Padmaja
Dear Padmaja,
Yes, I have seen pictures of Ganesha. The festivals sound beautiful. I read that Ganesha is the destroyer of obstacles. People ask him for success in undertakings and intelligence. He is also the God of education, knowledge and wisdom, literature, and the fine arts. Have you been to the Taj Mahal? When I go to India that is one thing I want to see.
Sincerely, Bud
Bud,
I really enjoyed your website, & the accompanying photos. You
should visit Chicago, Illinois. We moved here 2 yrs. ago from Texas, &
even though I get a little homesick at times, I've really learned to
love this state. It's particularly beautiful in the Fall.
You could go to downtown Chicago, & walk down Michigan Ave., or the
"Magnificent Mile" as it's known here. All kinds of interesting & fun
places to shop. I think you'd enjoy all our artistic "cows", too. They
are fiberglass-like you- and have been painted/decorated by various
artists in & around Chicago. They are all over the place-even Midway
Airport.
Anyway, thanks for your time. Enjoy your travels.
Mackers
Dear Mackers,
I like Texas too. But don't feel bad, I think everybody feels homesick once in while. Sometimes it happens when they don't even move away. Like wishing their town was the way it was before new buildings were built or something. The cows in Chicago sound really cool. I'll bet they sure surprise some people who don't know about them!
Sincerely, Bud
Bud has to visit the most beautiful city in Australia. Sydney. If Bud is
here during the Olympic he has to be seen at the swimming pool. Also l
recomend a visit to the top of the harbour bridge, which is spectacular
whether visited during day or night. Another place Bud has to visit is
Ayers Rock in the Northern Territory, to get a feel for out Aboriginals.
Dear Leah,
Swimming is fun. I think Ayers Rock sounds really cool. I've seen some pictures of it. It looks like it's in the desert. I've heard some of Aboriginal music. It sounded much different than what I hear where I live.
Sincerely, Bud
Hi Bud,
Somedays it's raining somedays it's sunny and humid. The rains will
be finishing in a few weeks now. I live in Bombay which is now called
Mumbai. Here we have extremes of rains and summer but no freezing winter
unlike the rest of india. The rest of india, being a tropical area, we have
extremes of summer when the hot wind 'loo' blows, and people have to stay
indoors in the afternoons. THe rains are lashing trees fall down floods
etc. Winter is harsh though we don't have snow excepting in Kashmir and
parts of Himachal pradesh which are a part of the Himalayan region. THese two
by the way are states of india. The Himalayas are the greatest and among the
highest mountain ranges in the world.Where are you presently?
Padmaja.
Dear Padmaja,
I am in Baltimore which is a city in Maryland which is a state in the United States. It is on the East Coast and is a harbor city on the Chesapeake Bay. We just had a hurricane come through. The wind blew very hard and knocked over some trees and we didn't have electric power for a day. We were very lucky. Other people in the South had floods and lost their homes and other stuff.
Baltimore is a beautiful city and has lots of friendly people. It is called Charm City, isn't that a nice nickname? As much as I like to travel, I always look forward to coming home again. I would like to climb the Himalayas.
Sincerely, Bud
Heya
go melbourne!
I was there for a year last year, my boyfriends from melbourne and its
so much better than syd-if you're looking for arts, music and
nightlife. Go Melbourne.
sydney is cool for the touristy nature it promotes - but you can find
that up the gold coast just as easy AND without the thoughts of being
killed by the sydney-sider spider-the funnel!!!!!--
melbourne rocks - st.kilda, brunswick street, the trams = cool - they
have the crown casino-24 food, drink and fun - and best of all, its 2$
less for a stubbie there and they have VB!!!!!!
cools in canada
Dear Cools,
You sure like Melbourne a lot! It sounds great, I do like the touristy stuff like you say Sydney has but my friends don't as much. I'll tell them about Melbourne, I think they'll really go for it. I can't wait to find out what the "sydney-sider spider-the funnel" is! I hope you get to go back soon.
Sincerely, Bud
G,day Bud.
Love your work.My name is Deb I live in outback Western Australia. Its the most beautiful and remote place in Australia, the town of 10,000is called Broome This place proudly boasts the 4th best beach rated in the world, where you are able to have miles and miles of unspoilt beach to yourself, tell Bud to expect roaring heat early 2000. anyway thanks for your time. Deb.
Dear Deb,
I don't mind the heat. I don't sweat even when it gets really hot. I might put on some sun block, though. I don't get a tan but I do tend to fade if I'm in the sun too long. I'm glad you enjoyed my pictures.
Sincerely, Bud
Have you considered a trip to the Mojave Desert? Check out www.deadpan.net/mpb/ and consider visiting the phone booth!
the Thomlinsons
Dear Thomlinsons,
I visited Yosemite Park in California but my pictures aren't on the website. It would be too much work to put all of my pictures up, so I picked the best ones. I also saw the desert in Nevada. Did you know there is someone who collects pictures of phone booths around the world?
Sincerely, Bud
I'm sorry Bud, but your way too young, and way to out of style. We feel sorry for you Bud. Even though I'm envious of all of your travels,Bud.
Bye Bud.
Dear Pamela,
I came this age from the factory. There is nothing I can do about it, I'm stuck this way forever. I like my age, though. I think it is good to be happy about the things I can't change about myself. Otherwise I'd be miserable, and probably wouldn't feel like traveling. So you don't have to feel sorry for me. Thanks though. I retired from modeling because my style was out of date. But I think fashions often come back in style, though. Who knows, maybe I'm ahead of the times?
Sincerely, Bud
